i get that harry potter was very influential and the books were amazing, the actors were great and have grown to become witty, intelligent people that many people admire
but the films were subpar.
i totally understand why it hasn’t won more prestigious awards. honestly, they cut out so much of the story, and without reading the books, the audience would have a limited understanding of the underlying themes of friendship, loyalty, bravery, and love that the books carry throughout the story. it’s underdeveloped, and that’s mostly because of time constraints.
i remember counting 20+ fade in/fade out transitions in the final film. sure, the visuals were stunning, but lack of creativity in cinematography made me want to cry. the pacing is terrible.
people fell in love with the characters because of the books and the fandom. the characters on screen were mostly flat, and few of them moved out of their static personalities.
people gripe about the flim committee in america overlooking the hp films after every awards show.
this is why.
